Spotlight On: Erolfa
Without question, fragrances have the power to transport you to another time and place. And when that destination is a yacht on the Mediterranean Sea, the salty air and citrus-scented breeze enveloping your senses, that’s a fragrance worth exploring.  That fragrance is Creed’s EROLFA.
There’s much to discover about this oceanic scent, starting with its unique name. Since memories of sailing the seas with his family inspired the scent, Olivier Creed chose to name his creation after each of them: Erwin, Olivier’s only son and perfumer protégé (ER); Olivia, Olivier’s daughter (OL); and their mother, Fabienne (FA). The sentimental name is proudly stamped against an ocean-blue background on the bottle, a nod to the scent’s inspiration. Introduced in 1992, devoted fans immediately gravitated to EROLFA, calling it one of the best marine fragrances. They especially praise its composition—deceptively simple at first, but slowly evolving into something more complex and mysterious.
One of the secrets of this fragrance lies with its medley of ingredients. EROLFA opens with bergamot, lemon, orange, violet, cumin, basil, rosemary and melon—that hint of summer that instantly wakes up your wanderlust. Slowly, the cyclamen, jasmine, ginger, coriander, pepper show up. And finally, it dries down to cedarwood, sandalwood, moss, amber, musk. The result is an uplifting oceanic scent that manages to be both fresh and complex. Perfect for daytime, especially on a crisp summer day and evocative of the sea. Truly, is there anything more appealing?
